About

The Working Group for Neglected Tropical Diseases (AG NTD) was founded in January 2024 as a German NTD Youth Initiative. It started within the “Young DTG” of the German Society for Tropical Medicine, Travel Medicine and Global Health (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Tropenmedizin, Reisemedizin und Globale Gesundheit e.V., DTG). We are committed to raising awareness for NTDs, especially among young people, and to inspiring their active involvement in research, advocacy, policy and clinical practice. Through collaboration with partners and youth initiatives worldwide, we seek to build strong international networks and foster interdisciplinary cooperation in order to drive progress towards the control and elimination of NTDs.

Vision

Promote awareness for NTDs and foster national and international collaborations of especially young people regarding research, advocacy, policy and clinical practice on NTDs.

Mission

1. Create awareness: We would like to raise awareness about the topic of neglected tropical diseases and draw attention to why it is important to strive for and promote their control, elimination and eradication. We would like to cooperate with both national and international NTD initiatives through a broad network. Target groups: Medical professionals (doctors and medical students, including veterinarians) as well as other student and professional groups that deal with the topic of NTDs (global health, health economics, epidemiology, etc.). A further focus in the future will be on educational work for students. 2. Advocacy, policy and capacity building: promoting social, clinical and scientific exchange, primarily among young colleagues nationally and internationally, encouraging interdisciplinary cooperation about NTDs.
